Treatment of anal fissures with an electrocoagulator

Anal fissures or sores are tears in the skin of the anal area, which are usually caused by an inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, constipation or mechanical injuries. The size of these tears can range from a few millimetres to 2 cm. Although this is one of the most common proctological disorders, an untreated anal fissure can lead to an inflammatory ulcer or fistula.

The main symptom of anal fissure is pain during and after a bowel movement and the associated constipation. Itching, swelling, discharge or blood may also appear in the anal area. Anal fissures can be acute and chronic. They can often be treated with medication, but if this treatment is ineffective or the effect is only temporary, a surgical method should be used.

At InnMed Clinic, anal fissures or tears are safely and effectively treated using a minimally invasive method – laser coagulation. This practice involves the use of a local analgesia, while the postoperative period is short and does not cause the patient discomfort.

Medical proctologists recommend a timely consultation with specialists for the treatment of acute fissures, before the problem becomes chronic and its treatment becomes longer and more complicated.
