Treatment of sexually transmitted diseases
Sexually transmitted (or venereal) diseases are commonly transmitted during sexual intercourse.
Most sexually transmitted diseases (syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, etc.) are curable. Furthermore, even though it is not possible to cure viral infections (HIV infection, herpes, genital warts, etc.), their course can be controlled.
You should become concerned about a sexually transmitted infection if you notice an increased genital discharge, pain or burning sensation during urination, white patches on the penis, vagina or in the mouth, rashes in the genital area, enlarged lymph nodes in the groin area, pain in the scrotum or lower abdomen, or blood after intercourse. These symptoms are a signal to abstain from sex and to see a doctor immediately.
Some venereal diseases may be asymptomatic, so they can only be accurately diagnosed following special tests. A person who is infected with a sexually transmitted disease can infect other people from the moment of contracting the infection, even in the absence of any symptoms. Treatment of venereal diseases is successful when it is combined with the treatment of the patient’s sexual partner.
The InnMed Clinic gynaecologists (venereologists) have many years of experience in offering consultations, providing quick diagnoses and initiating the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. All of our patients are guaranteed confidentiality and anonymity.
