Breast augmentation with implants

Breast augmentation with implants is a surgical procedure performed when a woman feels physical or psychological discomfort due to underdeveloped, small or deformed breasts, as well as when after giving birth, losing weight or over the years, beautiful breasts lose their volume and shape. With the help of implants, the surgery helps to restore or increase the volume of the breasts, granting them a beautiful shape. Breast augmentation is often combined with a breast lift.

Breast implants are also suitable for correction of congenital breast deformations. When the breasts are naturally asymmetrical or of different sizes, the deformity can be successfully corrected by selecting different volumes of implants.

Consultation with a plastic surgeon is necessary prior to breast augmentation surgery, who will help assess the patient’s body anatomy, breast size and shape, discuss the expectations, individually select the most suitable implants, and discuss the surgery plan and details. Choosing breast implants is not as simple as it may seem at first. Every woman’s body, aesthetic sense and expectations are different. In addition, it is difficult for her to assess what result to expect when choosing a particular implant. Experienced plastic surgeons at InnMed Clinic will help you make the right decision and achieve the result you dream of. InnMed Clinic uses only certified and safe new generation implants for breast augmentation procedures.

Surgical procedure

Breast augmentation with implants is performed under general anaesthesia. The operation lasts 1-2 hours.

During the operation, incisions are made under the breast and/or in the area of the nipple areola, through which implants are inserted. Implants can be placed under the mammary gland or under the large breast muscle. The most appropriate method, depending on the type of implant and anatomy of the patient’s body, is chosen by the plastic surgeon. After inserting the implants, the incisions are sutured. If the breasts are sagging, it is recommended to simultaneously perform the breast lift surgery, during which, the excess breast skin is removed, the breast tissue is stretched, the nipple and areola are moved to a new higher position, and a new breast shape of the required size and fullness is formed.

After the surgery, the breasts are dressed with a special bandage and a compression bra.

Postoperative period

It is recommended to stay at the clinic for one day following the operation, after which, in the absence of complications, the patient will be discharged home, and care will be continued on an outpatient basis. The time of the postoperative visit will be appointed by the operating doctor.

In order for the breast to heal nicely, it is necessary to wear a compression bra chosen by the plastic surgeon 1 to 2 months after the operation. It is also recommended to sleep on the back only, avoid strenuous physical activity, sports, and lift maximum weight of 5 kg for the same period of time. It is recommended to use special silicone gels for the treatment of scars.

Results to expect after surgery

The changes are visible immediately after the surgery, but the final result will be visible after 3 to 6 months, when the breast implants soften, take on a natural shape and settle in place.

Patients can enjoy not only a fuller, rounder, stiffer and more feminine breast, but also a significant improvement in psychological well-being and increased self-confidence.

Manufacturers recommend replacing the new generation breast implants after 10 years. However, based on the experience of plastic surgeons, in most cases, such implants can last significantly longer – up to 15-20 years.
