Botulinum toxin injections

Botulinum toxin injection is a non-surgical aesthetic procedure designed for the correction of facial wrinkles.

Mimic wrinkles are the effect of excessive activity of facial expression (anger, worry, surprise, etc.) muscles. The more emotional the person, the deeper the wrinkles formed. Wrinkles are usually most pronounced on the forehead, bridge of the nose and around the eyes, often giving the face a tired, pesky, worried or even angry expression.

Botulinum toxin is most commonly used to correct frown lines, wrinkles in the corners of the eyes and horizontal forehead wrinkles. Botulinum toxin injections make it possible to significantly smooth out or even completely eliminate the so-called “crow’s feet” in the outer corners of the eyes, “worry” or “frown” wrinkles between the eyes, “surprise” wrinkles on the forehead, and lift the drooping corners of the mouth. The injections block the hyperactive muscles responsible for the formation of mimic wrinkles. The result of the injections becomes better visible within 2-3 days after the procedure.

In cases of very intense muscle activity, botulinum toxin injections can also be used to prevent wrinkles. If started early, injections can block involuntary mimics and prevent the appearance of wrinkles.

Botulinum toxin injections can also be used to treat hyperhidrosis (treatment of increased sweating) in the armpits, palms and soles.

Botulinum toxin injections are not only an aesthetic but also a medical procedure. It requires understanding and anatomical knowledge, as improper injection can lead to complications. If you want to reduce the print of time on your face naturally and safely, you should be aware that botulinum toxin injections can only be performed in trusted licensed treatment facilities. The quality and success of the procedures are determined by the doctor’s knowledge of locations of the facial muscles, selection of the appropriate injection site and dose according to the patient’s age, skin condition and anatomical facial structure, therefore, it is important that injections are performed only by medically trained specialists.

At InnMed Clinic, botulinum injections are performed by plastic and reconstructive surgery specialists. Only certified, high-quality substances are used for injections. Experienced doctors use botulinum injections according to the modern concept of aesthetics to create and enshrine a natural facial appearance by reducing the depth of wrinkles and restoring youthfulness, while maintaining the mimicry and sensuality, and preserving the individuality of each patient, which fascinates the most.

Procedure

The pain level of the procedure is mild and it is usually performed without analgesia, but anaesthesia may be given locally at the injection site, if needed. During the procedure, using a special thin needle, the plastic surgeon injects the required dose of the product in the required points. Botulinum toxin blocks the hyperactive muscles responsible for the formation of mimic wrinkles, causing them to stop contracting, and smooths out the wrinkles. The procedure takes several minutes.

Botulinum injections do not disrupt the normal rhythm of life: it is possible to return to normal activities, exercise, go on vacation immediately after the procedure, and it is not required to avoid the sun.

Results to expect after the procedure

The final result of the correction of wrinkles with botulinum injections becomes visible within 1-2 weeks after the procedure. The mimic muscles relax, the wrinkles smooth out and do not show even when expressing emotions. The results of the procedure can be enjoyed for about half a year, sometimes – up to 1 year.

It is recommended that injections be given every 6 to 8 months to maintain a continuous effect. Regular injections prolongs their effect, as well as the habit of frowning, leading to the formation of mimic wrinkles, disappears.
